On Thursday afternoon, Donald Trump’s privately retained attorney, Marc Kasowitz released a brief statement in response to former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee.
“I am Marc Kasowitz,” the statement began. “Predisent Trump’s personal lawyer.
That’s “Predisent,” with a “disent.”
In typical Trumpian fashion, Kasowitz’s statement then swung from broad declarations of Trump’s innocence, flat denials that Trump did any of the bad things Comey said he did, and denunciations of Comey himself.
Kasowitz also accused Comey of leaking “privileged information” by passing along his memos to Columbia University law professor Daniel Richman. It’s pretty likely that Comey, a highly trained government bureaucrat, is probably better at covering his legal tracks than Donald Trump, so take that statement with an extreme grain of salt.
But, honestly, it’s hard to take any of it seriously when the personal attorney for the president of the United States can’t even spell his boss’s job correctly.

Update 2:55—After hurriedly reading his statement from a podium at the National Press Club in Washington D.C., Kasowitz bid a hasty, and smooth retreat.
