We’re not the biggest fans of Fox News around here, but credit where credit is due: Sometimes the best ideas come from the most unexpected places.
On Monday night, that place was Sean Hannity’s fine primetime news and analysis program, Hannity. Hannity was speaking to Fox News analyst Gregg Jarrett about—what else?—the FBI’s unconscionable treatment of that paragon of decency, Donald Trump, when Jarrett came out with an objectively great plan:
This is an all-powerful, out-of-control agency—rogue agency—and frankly, it’s time that it be halted in its tracks, reorganized and replaced with a new organization that has legal restraints imposed upon it and accountable to somebody...it is time that the FBI be halted.
Now, granted, Jarrett wants to get rid of the FBI because it went after his beloved president, and not because it’s an inherently evil organization with a terrible history. But who am I to quibble? It is time that the FBI be halted! So thank you, Gregg Jarrett, for starting this vital public policy discussion.
