Overall, I agree with you. But I will say that an argument can be made that GGG has not fought same competition as Canelo because he’s been avoided while boxers as lowly as Charles Hatley have called out Canelo. Of course, part of this is that there is little money in fighting GGG, at least compared to Canelo. Read more

5th round feels way too early. That would mean that David Lemiuex, Curtis Stevens, and Gabe Rosado all went longer against GGG. All boxers who rely on their punching output and don’t have Canelo’s defensive skills. I can see GGG knocking out Canelo but not in 5. Read more

We won’t really know if GGG is over the hill until after fight, but he has been getting hit a lot more in recent fights. Also, GGG has something like 350 amateur fights, which is a lot and bound to eventually catch up to a 35 year old boxer. Maybe that time is now, or maybe, Canelo is just not the boxer to expose him. I don’t see anyone marketed like Canelo. But as far as pure talent, I like Gilberto Ramirez and David Benavidez, who is Mexican American. Misael Rodriguez has a certain amount of appeal since he won a silver in the last Olympics, but he needs a lot of work. Read more
