No one was happy to hear on Friday that Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg—the only thing standing between us and a far-right Supreme Court that will ruin America for generations—was hospitalized and underwent surgery for cancerous growths in her lungs.
You can relax, for now: according to the Associated Press, the 85-year-old judge is already up and working after her surgery, though she remains Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. There’s no information about when she might return home.
Ginsburg underwent surgery for two malignant growths in her left lung. Doctors say that there is no sign of remaining disease after the operation, THANK GOD. This is the third time she has been treated for cancer.
Just last month, Ginsburg cracked three ribs after falling in court.
The Supreme Court will reconvene on January 7th. Ginsburg has never missed arguments, despite her previous health problems.
It is truly absurd that the freedom of so many people in the U.S. is dependent on one 85-year-0ld woman. If we lived in a better, fairer society, Merrick Garland would have been confirmed to the Supreme Court, and Brett Kavanaugh never would have made it. But this is hell world, and so we must pray for the continued well-being of this truly astonishing old lady.
Please Ruth, get well soon.
