Mexicans turn Ash Wednesday into day of remembrance for the 43 missing Ayotzinapa students

Many Mexican Catholics celebrated Ash Wednesday by putting the number 43 on their foreheads instead of the cross as a sign of solidarity with the missing Ayotzinapa students who disappeared on Sept. 26.

The Catholic faithful then uploaded their pictures to Mexican social media with the hashtag #43NoSonCeniza, which means "The 43 are not ashes."
