Loyalty, unsurprisingly, seems to be severely lacking among President Trump’s cronies. Today, we found out that former Apprentice contestant and Trump staff Omarosa Manigault-Newman secretly recorded conversations with the president and has played those tapes for others, according to a report from The Daily Beast.
Unlike Trump’s former lawyer and confidante Michael Cohen, who was the last of Trump’s friends to secretly record him, Manigault-Newman’s tapes aren’t being used as leverage in court. Instead, she seemed to be using them to secure a book deal. Her forthcoming book, UNHINGED, will be published by Simon & Schuster.
However, the mere existence of these tapes doesn’t mean there’s anything interesting on them. The Daily Beast writes that “[m]ultiple sources familiar with the so-called ‘Omarosa tapes’ described the recorded conversations between Trump and Manigault as anodyne, everyday chatter, but said they did appear to feature Trump’s voice, either over the phone or in-person.”
Her publisher would not confirm the existence of the tapes. “Without commenting on the specific contents of UNHINGED, we are confident that Omarosa Manigault Newman can substantiate her highly-anticipated account of life inside the Trump White House,” a Simon & Schuster spokesperson told The Daily Beast.
It’s still hard to believe that a notorious reality TV star was even allowed to work in the White House. But she’s gone now, and everything can go back to normal! Haha. Ha.
