With that in mind, entrepreneur Kortney Ziegler created a smartphone app that allows ordinary people to help incarcerated black people make bail simply by donating their spare change. Dubbed “Appolition,” the app has been live for just one month, and has already raised more than $16,000 to free those unable to afford freedom themselves.
