The Indiegogo page for VirtuaDolls includes an assortment of animated GIFs showing how the controller works. It seems very…energetic.
These animations don't exactly scream "having a good time." The rapidly-shifting machinery is more likely to conjure up a variety of nightmare scenarios that could unfold from exposing one's genitals to a motor-powered, industrial machine.
VirtuaDolls seems to have foreseen that potential consumers might be concerned for the well-being of their genitalia, and has a section in its FAQ covering safety.
How safe is this thing?
It is extremely safe. There are fail-safes in both the hardware and the software to prevent any mishaps or injuries. There are no sharp parts and the motors used inside are not physically strong enough to cause any injury. The silicone is also nearly 1" thick, giving more than enough of a barrier between you and any moving part.

Enough people appear to have been assuaged by this safety guarantee as the project's Indiegogo crowdfunding page indicates it has raised more than $7,000 in 5 days with a goal of $20,000.
