Now that Donald Trump has managed to successfully stumble into a summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, you’d think he would be busy boning up on all the relevant details of forthcoming meeting. Or at least you would if this was not Donald Trump we were talking about.
However, this is Donald Trump we’re talking about, and let’s face it, he’s not really a “homework” guy. Why? Because he’s got attitude!
Here is what he said on Thursday during a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe (emphasis mine):
I think I’m very well prepared. I don’t think I have to prepare very much. It’s about attitude. It’s about willingness to get things done. But I think I’ve been prepared for this summit for a long time.
Abe was presumably thrilled to hear that the president of the United States plans to basically wing it.
Trump isn’t the only one throwing caution to the wind when it comes to the North Korea talks. National Security Advisor John Bolton has reportedly been sleeping on his responsibilities for the upcoming summit as well. According to Politico, the mustachioed ultra-hawk has thus far failed to call even a single Cabinet-level meeting about the negotiations. Cool cool cool.
