I should just get this out of the way: For once in our miserable lives, this will not be about Donald Trump.

Instead, this week we will be sharing other tales of deception, deceit, and duplicity—cons meant to confuse, obfuscate, and conceal the truth. Some will be deeply serious; others will be disturbingly stupid. Topics discussed will include two-in-one shampoo and conditioner; broker’s fees; a viral child singing sensation; and—in a case of collusion being used for good—a deported veteran who found a way, a decade later, to return to the U.S.
